End-of-Service (EoS)
End-of-Service, or EoS, refers to the point or lifecycle stage at which a manufacturer discontinues certain service and support offerings for an IT product. Depending on the manufacturer and product, this may include technical support, repairs, spare parts, software updates or maintenance services. EoS is particularly relevant to long-term infrastructure planning for older IT hardware such as servers, switches, routers and firewalls. Affected devices may remain fully operational but may no longer receive standard manufacturer support. Organisations should therefore consider EoS dates at an early stage and assess whether alternative service options, replacement hardware or migration plans are required. Proactive planning helps maintain reliable IT operations and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime.
