Disposal and Environment

The following notes are intended for private households that use electrical and / or electronic devices. Please note these important instructions in the interest of environmentally sound disposal of old equipment and your own safety.

Owners of old appliances have to provide them with a separate collection of unsorted municipal waste. WEEE should therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, should not be disposed of as household waste. Rather, these old devices should be collected separately and disposed of via the local collection and return systems.

Owners of old appliances also have to dispose of used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old appliance before they are delivered to a collection point. The latter does not apply insofar as the old appliances are separated according to § 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG in the context of the optics of the public waste disposal carriers for the purpose of preparation for reuse of other old equipment in order to prepare them for reuse.

Using the symbol in accordance with Annex 3 to the ElektroG, owners can identify old devices that are to be recorded at the end of their service life separately from unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheeled bin and is designed as follows:

Owners of old appliances from private households can also dispose of the old appliances at the collection points of the public waste disposal carriers or at the collection points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG. On disposable old devices are partially sensitive personal data (such as on a PC or a smartphone), which must not get into the hands of third parties. 

We expressly point out that end users of old equipment must take responsibility for the deletion of personal data on the waste equipment to be disposed of.
