High Performance Computing (HPC)
High Performance Computing, or HPC, refers to the use of powerful computing systems for processing complex calculations and large volumes of data. Multiple servers, processors or compute nodes are commonly combined within an HPC cluster, allowing workloads to be processed in parallel. A high-performance network infrastructure with high bandwidth and low latency is essential for rapid data transfer between individual systems. HPC is used for scientific simulations, weather modelling, artificial intelligence, research, engineering calculations and large-scale data analysis. In addition to computing performance, scalable storage systems, efficient cooling and reliable IT infrastructure are important components of an HPC environment. This enables organisations to process workloads that would be too complex or time-consuming for conventional computing systems.
