Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR)

Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response, or SOAR, refers to a platform for coordinating and automating processes within security operations. It connects different security tools and data sources, such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls and threat intelligence systems, through centrally managed workflows. Repetitive tasks including alert analysis, security data enrichment, incident prioritisation and blocking suspicious access can be automated using predefined playbooks. SOAR also supports security teams in the structured investigation, response and documentation of security incidents. The technology is particularly relevant within Security Operations Centers and can help reduce response times and manual workloads. SOAR frequently complements existing SIEM solutions by transforming detected security events into defined analysis and response processes.
