Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP)

Zero Touch Provisioning, or ZTP, is a method for automatically deploying and configuring network devices. New switches, routers, access points and other compatible devices can retrieve the required configuration data automatically after being connected to the network. The device typically obtains basic network information, for example through DHCP, before connecting to a defined provisioning server or management platform. Configuration files, software versions, scripts and additional settings can then be provided automatically. ZTP reduces manual configuration effort and supports standardised deployment across larger network environments. It is particularly useful for distributed locations, data centres and cloud infrastructures, where it facilitates network automation and the scalable deployment of new hardware. Secure authentication and trusted provisioning sources are important requirements for protecting the deployment process.
