Change Advisory Board (CAB)
A Change Advisory Board, or CAB, is an IT service management committee that reviews and supports planned changes to IT systems, applications and infrastructures. It is particularly associated with Change Management in an ITIL environment. The CAB evaluates factors such as potential risks, business impact, required resources and dependencies before a change is implemented. Depending on the organisation’s processes, it may recommend approving, rejecting or modifying a proposed change. The board can include representatives from IT, business departments, management and other relevant stakeholders. Its purpose is to support controlled change implementation, minimise operational disruptions and maintain the stability and availability of IT services.
