Alternative Cooling

Alternative cooling refers to innovative cooling methods for IT hardware, servers and data centres that go beyond traditional air-based cooling systems. These include, for example, liquid cooling, direct liquid cooling, immersion cooling and the use of natural ambient cold. The aim is to dissipate the heat generated by high-performance IT hardware whilst simultaneously reducing the energy required for cooling. Alternative cooling concepts are becoming increasingly important, particularly in data centres with high power density. They can reduce operating costs and enable a higher hardware packing density. In this way, modern cooling technologies can help to specifically manage the energy required for cooling data centres.
