Endpoint Security

Endpoint security covers all technical and organisational measures used to protect end devices within a network. These include laptops, desktop PCs, servers, smartphones, tablets, printers and increasingly IoT devices. Typical components are antivirus software, endpoint detection and response, disk encryption, local firewalls, application control, patch management and device control for external interfaces. These functions are administered through a central console that distributes policies and monitors the security status of all devices. Modern solutions detect threats not only through signatures but also through behavioural analysis and anomaly detection. As end devices are frequently the entry point for attacks such as ransomware or advanced persistent threats, endpoint security forms a central element of IT security alongside network segmentation and access control.
