Ethical Hacker

An ethical hacker is an IT security professional who examines IT systems, networks and applications for security vulnerabilities with the explicit authorisation of the respective organisation. Ethical hackers may use methods and tools similar to those used in real cyberattacks, but with the objective of identifying weaknesses in a controlled manner and improving IT security. Their activities can include penetration testing, reviewing network configurations and analysing applications for potential security risks. Identified vulnerabilities are documented and reported to the organisation together with recommendations for remediation. Unlike cybercriminals, ethical hackers operate within a clearly defined and authorised scope. They help organisations identify security weaknesses at an early stage and strengthen their cybersecurity and IT infrastructure protection.
