Golden Config

A Golden Config is a standardised and validated reference configuration for IT systems, servers, network devices or applications. It defines a desired target state that comparable systems are expected to follow. This can include network settings, security policies, access permissions, software versions and other technical parameters. Organisations use Golden Configs to standardise configurations, maintain traceable changes and reduce configuration errors. Automation and configuration management solutions can regularly compare existing systems against the reference configuration and identify deviations known as Configuration Drift.
