Line Topology
A Line Topology is a network topology in which multiple devices are connected along a common transmission path or arranged sequentially in a linear structure. Data is transmitted through the available connections between the connected network components. The structure is relatively simple and can require less cabling than more complex network designs. Depending on the technical implementation, an interruption of the main connection or failure of a participating component can affect communication with subsequent devices. This provides less resilience than redundant network topologies. Linear network structures and daisy-chain connections are used in certain industrial networking environments and specialised applications. For larger enterprise networks, more flexible and redundant network architectures are generally preferred.
