Maintenance Window
A Maintenance Window is a predefined period during which planned maintenance is performed on IT systems, applications or network components. Typical activities include software and firmware updates, security patches, configuration changes, hardware replacements and system restarts. During this period, individual services may have limited availability or become temporarily unavailable. Maintenance Windows are therefore commonly scheduled outside normal business or operating hours. Structured planning enables IT teams to implement necessary changes in a controlled manner while limiting the impact on ongoing operations. In enterprise networks and data centres, defined maintenance periods are an important part of IT operations, Change Management and system administration. They support predictable maintenance processes and help keep IT systems up to date and operational.
