Network Monitoring & Observability

Network Monitoring and Observability both support the supervision and analysis of network infrastructures but differ in scope. Network Monitoring tracks defined metrics such as availability, bandwidth utilisation, latency, packet loss, interface status and device utilisation and can generate alerts when predefined thresholds are exceeded. Network Observability goes further by combining different types of telemetry data, including metrics, logs, events and network flows, to provide deeper insight into complex IT infrastructures. This enables IT teams not only to identify that an issue exists but also to investigate its potential causes and impact. Both approaches support early fault detection, performance analysis and high network availability and are particularly relevant to dynamic data centre, cloud and enterprise networks.
