Network Operations Center (NOC)

A Network Operations Center, or NOC, is a centralised unit responsible for monitoring and managing networks and IT infrastructures. Specialist IT teams monitor network devices, servers, connections, availability and performance. Monitoring and observability solutions help identify and analyse disruptions, unusual conditions and performance issues at an early stage. Typical responsibilities include incident management, troubleshooting, escalation, performance monitoring and coordination of maintenance activities. NOCs can be operated internally by an organisation or provided as a managed service by an external provider. Particularly in large enterprise networks, data centres and service provider infrastructures, a NOC supports stable network operations, rapid response to incidents and high availability of business-critical IT services.
