Public Cloud

A Public Cloud is a cloud infrastructure in which computing power, storage, network resources and applications are provided by an external cloud provider. The underlying infrastructure is typically shared by multiple customers while their data and resources remain logically separated. Organisations can provision IT resources flexibly and, depending on the service model, pay according to usage. Common models include Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service. Public Cloud services enable rapid scalability and reduce the need to deploy dedicated physical IT infrastructure for suitable workloads. Major providers include Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Organisations can also combine Public Cloud services with Private Cloud or on-premises infrastructure to create a Hybrid Cloud architecture.
