Secrets Management

Secrets Management refers to the processes and technologies used to securely store, manage and provide sensitive credentials within an IT infrastructure. Secrets can include passwords, API keys, access tokens, certificates and cryptographic keys. Instead of embedding this information directly in applications, scripts or configuration files, it is stored in a protected central system and provided to authorised users or services when required. Modern solutions can support encryption, access control, auditing and automated credential rotation. Secrets Management is particularly important in cloud infrastructures, DevOps, CI/CD processes, container environments and automated IT systems. Centralised management helps reduce uncontrolled credential storage and enables organisations to assign permissions more precisely according to the principle of least privilege.
