Tower Server

A Tower Server is a physical server housed in a standalone enclosure designed for vertical placement. Unlike a Rack Server, it does not require a server rack and can be installed directly in an office, technical room or other suitable location. Depending on the model, Tower Servers can accommodate multiple processors, memory modules, hard drives or SSDs and additional expansion cards. They are commonly used by small and medium-sized businesses, branch offices and environments where only a limited number of servers are required. Typical workloads include file and print services, databases, business applications, backups and virtualisation. As IT infrastructure grows, multiple Tower Servers can require considerable floor space. Rack or Blade Servers are therefore often preferred for larger data centre environments.
