WPA2-Enterprise

WPA2-Enterprise is a security configuration for Wi-Fi networks that is primarily used by businesses and organisations. Unlike WPA2-Personal, it does not rely on a single shared Wi-Fi password for all users. Authentication is based on IEEE 802.1X and the Extensible Authentication Protocol, or EAP. A central authentication server, commonly a RADIUS server, verifies the credentials or certificates of individual users or devices. Following successful authentication, individual cryptographic keys are established for the wireless connection. WPA2-Enterprise therefore enables centralised management of network access and allows individual accounts or devices to be revoked without changing a shared network password. Its security depends significantly on the EAP method used, correct certificate validation and secure configuration of the participating systems.
