Client-Server Model

The client-server model is a network architecture that distributes tasks and services between clients and central servers. A client, such as a computer, smartphone or application, sends a request to a server. The server processes the request and provides the required data, applications or network services. Typical examples include web servers, mail servers, database servers and file servers. Centralised service delivery enables organisations to manage and control data, access permissions and applications efficiently. The client-server model is widely used in enterprise networks, data centres and cloud environments and forms the foundation of many IT services. Depending on the infrastructure, multiple servers can be deployed to improve performance, scalability and availability.
