Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB)

A Cloud Access Security Broker, or CASB, is a security solution positioned between users and cloud services. It enables organisations to monitor access to cloud applications, enforce security policies and protect sensitive data. CASB solutions can control the use of Software as a Service applications, analyse data movement and identify unauthorised cloud services. Depending on the solution, additional capabilities may include access controls, encryption, Data Loss Prevention and the detection of unusual user activity. Particularly in hybrid IT infrastructures and multi-cloud environments, a CASB provides greater visibility into cloud usage and helps organisations reduce security risks. The technology therefore forms an important part of modern cloud security strategies.
