Online UPS

An Online UPS is an uninterruptible power supply based on double-conversion technology and is therefore also known as a Double-Conversion UPS. During normal operation, incoming AC power is first converted into DC power and then converted back into AC power by an inverter. This process continuously supplies connected IT systems with stable output power. In the event of a power failure, the battery supplies the inverter without a relevant transfer time. Online UPS systems provide a high level of protection against power outages, voltage fluctuations, frequency variations and other power disturbances. They are commonly used for servers, storage systems, network hardware, data centres and other business-critical IT infrastructures. Compared with Offline and Line-Interactive UPS systems, they provide more comprehensive power protection but generally involve higher acquisition and operating costs.
