Fibre optics
Fibre-optic cables are made from quartz glass or quartz sand, which is used for data transmission. A fibre-optic cable, for example, which consists of several individual fibres, is a cable used to transmit signals. Thanks to fibre-optic cables, light signals are transmitted at the speed of light over long distances via optical fibres. Fibre-optic cables are capable of transmitting vast amounts of data. Several optical fibres form a bundle and make up the optical fibre cable. A single optical fibre is almost as thin as a single human hair. It consists of a core, a cladding and an outer sheath.
